New Report on Hospital Mergers and Protecting Access to Care

MergerWatch released a new study that has concluded that state level oversight of hospital transactions in the form of Certificate of Need (CON) review is inadequate to protect consumer access to needed health services in this new era of health industry consolidation. The study found that only a limited number of states have the CON policies that are most important for maintaining access to services when hospitals consolidate. New Resource Center to Support ACO Development

The Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) has developed a Resource Center for Medicaid Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) that provides tools and insights to help state Medicaid agencies design and launch new ACOs. Topics covered include general design, scope of services, working with providers, quality, payment and federal/state policy guidance.
