Ridesharing and Medicaid NEMT: An Advocacy Guide

In recent years, ridesharing companies such as Uber and Lyft have started working with states to provide Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT). While these companies may help states increase the number of transportation providers, and therefore expand access to NEMT overall, there is inherent risk to consumers with complex health and social needs if the service is poorly integrated.

To assist state advocates in engaging on this issue, we have developed a new advocacy guide that lays out five recommendations to ensure a consumer-centered implementation and oversight process for ridesharing companies providing NEMT.
