MODULE B – Creating Culture Change

In Module B, learners explore how the traditional medical model puts the clinician at the center while the independent living model is built around the needs of the person living with disabilities. Creating a person-centered culture requires replacing a hierarchical relationship in which the clinician is the “only expert in the room” with a partnership that respects the expertise of lived experience. After becoming more familiar with the core concepts of independent living, learners hear how one practice infused these values and principles into daily practice by embedding them in hiring, orientation, training and coaching.
